Praise for CMBYN

“We rip out so much of ourselves to be cured of things faster than we should that we go bankrupt by the age of thirty and have less to offer each time we start with someone new. But to feel nothing so as not to feel anything—what a waste!”

This is my fourth summer reading Andre Aciman's, Call Me By Your Name. It is my all-time favorite novel, and it has had a significant impact on many facets of my life.

I have always been an avid reader, but it wasn't until I read Aciman's work that I realized that words were my true passion. With every sentence of raw expression I read, I wanted so vigorously to be able to do the same. I was in awe of how Aciman took mundane moments and framed them to a rousing and unforgettable state.

His writing, combined with the harrowing narrative, taught me things about myself that I could never have deciphered on my own. His words felt like parallel moments in my life that I had overlooked or forgotten. Reading Call Me By Your Name felt nostalgic...a surreal sensation to have while reading something for the first time.

My praise could go on forever, but I want to note that this is a direct testimony to Aciman's brilliance and wisdom as an individual—this novel can inspire anyone, not just those who yearn to write. I very, very sincerely recommend.
